What is the goal of the Missak Manouchian Movement?
Armenia is threatened with invasion by Azerbaijan, assisted by Turkey. Every day, this invasion is promised by the authorities in Baku. Faced with this threat, the goal of the Movement is to help Armenia protect its territory by all possible legal means, in accordance with the authorities of this country.
Furthermore, to extend its action to all regions of France, the Movement will promote initiatives aimed at promoting the image of Missak Manouchian in the public space in order to spread his spirit of resistance.
Who are we?
Originally, the movement was launched by a group of about ten people who have been involved in the Armenian cause for decades.
In the days following the drafting of the Charter, the initial circle expanded to over a hundred and continues to grow every day, reaching over 700 signatures today.
Today, the Missak Manouchian Movement is composed of all those who have signed its Charter, who want to defend the existence of Armenia and spread the values of the Resistance hero.
Why is the Movement named after Missak Manouchian?
Since 2013-2014, the founding members have requested President Hollande to include the Manouchian Group in the Pantheon, supported by MP Jean-Marc Germain (Find the online petition).
This was the first public initiative in favor of Pantheonization.
It was therefore natural and legitimate for those who have preserved and cultivated his memory and image, who have been inspired by him in their struggles, to claim his name to characterize their action in defense of Armenia.
Why create a new organization?
Existing organizations (except for political organizations) that operate in Armenia are aimed at charitable, cultural, educational, economic structural, and medical actions.
At a time when the absolute urgency is the preservation of the existence of Armenia and its population, the Missak Manouchian Movement's main objective is to defend Armenia threatened in its territorial integrity.
It thus complements, in a vital domain, the support system of the Diaspora for the motherland.
What are the commitments when signing the Missak Manouchian Movement Charter?
By subscribing to the Charter, the signatory declares their adherence to the values and objectives of the Movement and agrees to receive its action proposals. They are free to support them, participate in them, or not.
